چکیده
The Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas is one of the world’s most cultivated and prized molluscs. Although it usually considered a luxury product, meets all requirements to be included in sustainable diet, its production consumption have great potential for growth coming years. Oyster farming worldwide activity, with China France as main producers, but recently, possibility implementing Italian production, mainly focused on clams mussels, has been an interesting issue, especially due growing local global demand. present study carried out by collecting data from Sacca di Goro, north-east Italy, important national mollusc area. Life cycle assessment (LCA) methodology was applied two different scenarios order improve overall sustainability process. Using OpenLCA™ software (GreenDelta, Berlin, Germany) ReCiPe® midpoint (H) v.1.12 method, environmental impacts traditional technique, entirely offshore longlines, alternative option, which seed pre-fattening phase lagoon, were calculated compared. results show that replacing current lagoon reduces CO2 emissions approximately 12% other impact categories 9%. In addition, non-recyclable plastic materials fuel emerged hotspots.

Estimating clam yield potential in the Sacca di Goro lagoon (Italy) by using a two-part conditional model
The assessment of clam yield potential and the identification of suitable sites for clam rearing are a necessary step to improve the economic and environmental sustainability of the exploitation activities in a regulated fishery. We discuss the development, validation and application of a method for estimating the clam yield potential of a northern Adriatic lagoon (Sacca di Goro, Italy) by comb...
متن کاملFood Polymeric Packaging Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)
Food packaging is used to maintain the safety and quality of food during distribution and storage and to protect them from adverse internal and external conditions, such as water vapor, spoilage due to microorganisms, moisture, light, and dust. In this regard, lots of research studies have been done to increase shelf life, safety, and quality to create suitable physico...
متن کاملA comparative analysis of three habitat suitability models for commercial yield estimation of Tapes philippinarum in a North Adriatic coastal lagoon (Sacca di Goro, Italy).
Habitat Suitability (HS) models have been extensively used by conservation planners to estimate the spatial distribution of threatened species and of species of commercial interest. In this work we compare three HS models for the estimation of commercial yield potential and the identification of suitable sites for Tapes philippinarum rearing in the Sacca di Goro lagoon (Italy) on the basis of s...
متن کاملIdentification of the Molecular Clockwork of the Oyster Crassostrea gigas
Molecular clock system constitutes the origin of biological rhythms that allow organisms to anticipate cyclic environmental changes and adapt their behavior and physiology. Components of the molecular clock are largely conserved across a broad range of species but appreciable diversity in clock structure and function is also present especially in invertebrates. The present work aimed at identif...
متن کاملFunctional characterisation of phagocytes in the Pacific oyster Crassostrea gigas
Invertebrates lack canonical adaptive immunity and mainly rely on innate immune system to fight against pathogens. The phagocytes, which could engulf and kill microbial pathogens, are likely to be of great importance and have to undertake significant roles in invertebrate immune defense. In the present study, flow cytometry combined with histological and lectin staining was employed to characte...
